A Quick Note, February 1 2016.

Some of our asset management clients will have noticed that I have sold some positions in some of their accounts recently. As a rule, we prefer to not sell positions, especially in taxable accounts. Instead, we have distributions paid to cash and use the cash to purchase new positions in order to rebalance the accounts. In this case, we have sold positions in order to realize capital losses, which will reduce 2016 taxable income. I will be replacing the sold positions soon with exchange traded funds representing the diversification categories that have been sold. This is not a change in strategy, just an opportunity to take advantage of recent losses and replace older assets with newer assets which offer better features.

Final 4th quarter 2015 asset management reports, including final inflation numbers have now been posted in our clients’ secure web folders.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REFERRALS!
